The Parents and Teachers Association of the International School of Béarn

With the help of volunteers and fundraising programs, we can help provide enrichment programs like art, dance, computers and music. We will also help provide new libraries and give the school a much needed facelift. The PTA association also offers opportunities for parents to get to know each other through the work they do together, as a community.

This working partnership creates a flow of information between the school and home that benefits both sides by participating in the lives of our children outside the home.
At I.S.Béarn, the Association encourages families to get to know the teachers and the administration. In fact, doors are left wide open and staff is available to answer any questions that might arise and to encourage parents to actively seek out ways that they can be of help to the school or to their child’s education.

Our programs include class bake sale held every month by volunteers, international food days where everyone can provide a taste of their countries cooking, a book sale to benefit the library and the children by encouraging them to read, and of course an annual social events which brings everyone together.

However the association should be more than that, and because we are a small school, it should be easy to achieve this. We need your participation and we need your ideas.

We want to benefit from the different cultures that exist in our school and to teach our children to understand, respect and appreciate these differences. With your help, we can achieve this aim. In today's world, we need to belong to a community that fosters respect and appreciation for one another.

By volunteering your time or expertise, no matter how small, you are actively participating in your child’s education. Just as importantly, you are giving the message to your children that school life matters. Your presence in the school is important.

Bring your experience to the PTA Association at the International School of Béarn. Help us make our community a place of international co-operation. We need your ideas, we need your inspiration, we need you to make this possible.
Without your participation we cannot make this community work as we would want it to.
Please consider how you can contribute to the Association.

  Horrible Halloween
HORRORS!

On the Tuesday 21st of October, everyone in the school was invited to Stade Blanchard for a Halloween party! It was a lot of fun. We played a lot of games. The first game was pass the parcel and Sam won! Well done! The second game was throwing a toy rat or mouse into a ghosts mouth: it was hard! When some more people arrived, we looked at the outfits some people were wearing.
Alexandre was a fierce devil, I was a Grim Reaper, Muir and Baptiste were blood sucking vampires, and Rosalie, Marianne, Karoline and Madeleine were dressed as sinister witches. Mr Hayman was a caretaker from beyond the grave, Bryce was a dreaded bat and Gabby came as a shining fairy.
As we played “Wrap up the teachers” the mums organised the next game “Dunking for apples”! Everyone cheered on Mr.Hayman as he dunked for apples for the first time! Inside we all danced to “We will rock you” and “I love rock'n roll”. At the end, everyone went home to bed with dreams of monsters!

    Christmas Fair

On Saturday the 13th of December,at the International School of Béarn, there was a brilliant Christmas Fair which was designed to raise funds for our school.

There were loads of people's relations or friends. The decorations were immensely good, so good. Most of the stalls were empty at the end! There were also numerous amazing games!

One of the most popular games was called the Bottle Number Game. You had to pick a number from a Santa hat and if the number corresponded to the number on the bottle you won that drink. Mr Hayman really wanted Bailey's Irish Cream, but Ben won it and swapped it for coke (sorry mum!). After surviving the long wait behind the Henri boys Karoline won Champagne. For all the goes he had, Baptise might have found it cheaper to buy Karoline a bottle of Champagne!

Another exciting game was called Guess the Teddy's Name. Ben somehow managed to find the exact name! It was really kind of Ben to give the giant bear to his little brother Sam. It made a wonderful birthday present! Maybe, by his next birthday, Sam will have grown to be the same size as his cuddly new friend!

Baptiste didn't like the Lucky Dip Game because when he put his hand in, he pulled out a vicious green snake! Ben was attacked by a Mars Bar!

Karoline's mum made two lovely cakes one of a cabin in the mountains and the other was of our school. The pupils are going to eat the school! She also did face painting with Ms Susie, Muir and I had devils and Baptiste had an Aztec. In all, everyone had a wonderful time.

Friday 9th of January at 7.30pm we had THE SCHOOL'S FIRST ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Children, teachers and parents were at school for a casual celebratory dinner.
Good food, wine and champagne for parents and teachers. Mme Elias organised a great surprise for the children : 2 hours of a show with a magician and a juggler and after they had a disco!
The school received fantastic presents from the parents: a digital camera and a basket to play basketball in the playground. THANK YOU SO MUCH !
Xavière was the spokewoman : she said a touching speech to thank Mme Elias for creating our wonderful school, giving the children the possibility to be in a school with such a good philosophy of teaching, and always being so dynamic and enthusiastic (Mme Elias had tears in her eyes...).
Mme Elias received a magnificent bunch of roses and a beautiful basque towel. WOOOOW !
